Evening Skincare Routine

I have never had a skincare “routine” until recently! For the most part, my skin has been pretty clear for the majority of my life. Sure, I would get the occasional breakout every now and then, but I wouldn’t say I ever REALLY suffered from acne. For me, a salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide face wash worked fine for me in my teen years and since then just a cleansing face wash would suffice.

Unfortunately some good things come to an end! Since getting the IUD back in October, my skin has been a little crazy. It’s more oily now and I now get hormonal breakouts!! Enter an actual skincare regimen! I’ve tried out several different products and I have finally found a combination that I really love!

Step 1. Makeup Removal

To remove my eye and face makeup I use the Farmacy GREEN CLEAN Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm! This stuff MELTS your makeup off! It starts as a solid balm but quickly melt into an oil with the warmth of your skin. I just massage this all over my face and eye and then rinse with water. You can find Farmacy products at Sephora or Farmacy.com

Step 2. Cleansing

I recently switch to a new face wash and I am in love! I am now using the Tula Cleansing Face Wash. I love the lather on this cleanser and it doesn’t make my face feel tight after using it. Another product which has been a miracle worker for me is the Solo Mio Sonic Facial Brush. This is a dupe for the Foreo Luna facial brush. It is a silicone, vibrating facial brush. I use this every evening when I wash my face and I can really see and feel a difference with my skin since getting this. It really has helped even out my skin tone, it has helped fade some acne scars, and it has helped smooth any textured area on my face! You can find the Tula cleanser at Ulta or tula.com and the Solo Mio on Amazon!

Step 3. Toning

I use the very popular Pixi Glow Tonic. I love this stuff. It gives the most satisfying, gentle tingle to the skin, that really make it feel like its working. This is a 5% glycolic acid toner, so it is a chemical exfoliant. This toner gently exfoliates the skin, helps even skin tone, and fade scars! You can purchase this at Target or pixibeauty.com!

Step 4. Serum

My nighttime serum is also by Pixi and is in the same collection as the Glow Tonic. It’s the Pixi Overnight Glow Serum. First, this stuff smells so good. It has a very subtle, spa-like scent. This is a 10% glycolic acid treatment, therefore the tingle is definitely stronger that the Glow Tonic. If your skin can handle it, I highly recommend using this! I have noticed such a difference in my skin! It is so so so smooth the mornings after I use this product. Find it at Target or Pixibeauty.com!

Step 5. Moisturize

I don’t use a traditional cream moisturizer in the evenings. Instead I use an oil! I recently started using the Health Priority Vitamin E Oil after Jen over at @thesisterstudioig on Instagram raved about it. After using it for a few weeks I can totally understand why! It has helped my breakouts clear up even faster than before and I have noticed a difference with some of my fine lines! As for an eye cream, at night i use Farmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream. It is a very hydrating, but light weight eye cream! You can find the vitamin E oil on Amazon and the Farmacy eye cream at Sephora!
